Chosun's Records of Ulleungdo~Dokdo Region
It can't be disputed that Korea's records of the Ulluengdo region predate Japanese ones. The document to the right confirms Koreans were involved on Ulleungdo Island around the year 512 A.D.

While this record does not explicitly mention Dokdo Island it verifies Koreans were living on Ulleungdo Island land thus within visual proximity of Dokdo about a thousand years before the first Japanese "discovered" the Ulleungdo region by accident.

The documents reads
"In the summer month of June in the 13th year (512 A.D.), Usan-guk surrendered and began paying tributes in local products. Usan-guk is a island in the sea east of Myeongju, and it is also called Ulleungdo..." The area of the land measures 100 ri.

The document goes on to describe the manner in which the "wild" residents of Usanguk were tricked into surrendering.
